Lonestar Pets and Wildlife Sanctuary is looking for volunteers who want to help wildlife animals and make a really BIG difference in their lives. We currently have an area within Lonestar Pets and Wildlife Sanctuary where we house the injured and abandoned wildlife. We currently have many baby raccoons. The location is a private location where multiple wildlife sanctuary’s are outdoors in which you can volunteer.
- The Wildlife Sanctuary is where we house admit wildlife for onsite rehabilitation which are/or were injured or orphaned.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
- Commit to one 2 to 3 hour shifts per week.
- Volunteers pay a $40 registration fee which covers your Lonestar Pets and Wildlife Sanctuary T-shirt, hands-on training with experienced staff, as well as help cover the high cost of caring for the animals every day.
- New volunteers are required to attend an orientation that covers all aspects of volunteering with Lonestar Pets and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Lonestar Pets and Wildlife Sanctuary prefers that all personnel be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect the wildlife in our care and to help prevent future outbreaks. If a volunteer is unable to receive a vaccination because of medical, personal, or religious beliefs, they may fill out an exemption form.
Qualifications:
- Appreciation of all wild animals.
- A clear understanding of Lonestar Pet’s and Wildlife Sanctuary’s mission – (Rescue, Rehab and Release).
- Ability to follow instructions and willingness to assist wherever needed. All volunteers will be expected to clean cages, clean floors, etc.
- Patience, kindness and the ability to communicate and work with others are a absolute must.
- Physical ability to spend 2 hours standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Pass a background check and be clear of violent crimes or assaults.

- Please know that peanuts and other tree nuts are used in the diets of our animals and those with allergies may be frequently exposed.
